Joshua's Story
Joshua was born on May 5, 2008. My pregnancy with Joshua was with many prayers. I was put on bed rest at 32 weeks. We prayed that he would make it to 36 weeks, and, praise God, we did. After he was born and we went home from the hospital, we noticed that Joshua was not startled at all by noise. With having six other kids we thought he was used to the noise because babies can hear in the womb. At about one month of age Joshua should have been responding to our voices, but he didn’t. Also, the kids accidentally turned the television on and the sound just blasted very loud, but Joshua didn’t even move or respond to the noise. This happened more than once when he was asleep and awake. (Read more)
Blind Eye Opened
Tim is 43 years old. When he was six, he was accidently shot in the left eye by his brother who thought his pellet gun was empty. After surgery and forty-five days in the hospital, Tim was left with essentially no vision in his left eye. He told me the story when I was giving him a ride home one afternoon.
When we arrived at Tim's house, I asked Tim if he would let me pray for him. He said yes. So with us sitting in my car, he let me put my hand over his bad eye, and I prayed. (Read more) New Eardrums
One very hot day last August, my son Nathan and I were outside, working on our van. Our next door neighbor M. came over to talk a little. She was sick, and was dreading having to go to Dallas the following week for a difficult and painful surgery to re-create both of her eardrums. She'd had some sort of condition that had destroyed both of her eardrums, and she had ongoing problems with infections. When I offered that Nathan and I would be happy to pray for her, M. agreed. So we did.
A week later, M. came over to see us. With tears in her eyes and a big smile on her face, she told us that she didn't have to have ear surgery after all because when the doctors checked her, they discovered she already had two new eardrums. Jesus did that! -Michael R. Painful Neck Healed
One day in May 2008, my two children and I went to Fazoli's on Waco Drive for lunch. I asked the person taking our order how we could pray for her when we're giving thanks for our food. She answered, "I'm fine, but would you mind praying for my Mom?" Before I could say yes, she added, "I can bring her out to you after you're done eating - she's the kitchen manager and she's working right now." We said yes. (Read more)
Healed Arm
In the fall of 2007, my then-ten-year-old son Nathan was playing "pads-n-helmets" football on a Midway city league team. One afternoon, K., one of Nathan's teammates, showed up for with an injured arm - his much larger, older brother had fallen on him just before K. came to practice, and by the time K. got to practice, he couldn't bend his arm or rotate his hand around his wrist at all, and he was in a lot of pain, fighting back tears. One of the other parents there was a registered nurse. She examined K. and determined that his arm was probably fractured near the elbow. (Read more)
Healed Leg
During the prayer time of the last night of the Amber Rose (March 2006) Healing Conference in Fort Worth, The speaker Bill Johnson (of Bethel Church in Redding, California) encouraged people to get out their cell phones to pray over folks not present in the room, if the Lord so led them. This conference was our first exposure to this "healing stuff," so Pastor Bill's telling folks to call people to pray for them was startling to me, but no less so than anything else that had been going on at the conference—and plenty else was going on. Children Pray for Mom
A member of our Sunday School class was suffering from bad dental pain for a couple of days. I had some items to drop off at her house, so when I got there, I took the opportunity to pray for her healing. But I did it in a fun way. I told her to sit on the couch, while I got her very young children (ages 2 to 5) to gather around her for an impromptu Sunday School lesson. It went like this: "Girls! Do you know Jesus loves you and also your Mommy? He does! And did you know, He heals people too! He comes and He takes away hurts and makes people feel all better! Your Mommy's teeth are hurting real bad, so let's talk to Jesus right now - and do you know what He's going to do? He's going to come right now and make your Mommy feel all better and take all her toothache away!" (Read more)
God Loves Fountain Pens Too
It is said that there's a season for restoration of lost things. One Monday recently, I lost my favorite fountain pen. I remember exactly where I was the last time I used it and had possession of it, but it wasn't anywhere near there. I turned my house upside down looking for it. Searched my van twice. Looked in my briefcase four times. I called offices in two cities where I'd been, asking if it had turned up, and even emailed a photo of the pen to help them identify it. Thinking it might have fallen out of my pocket when I'd emptied the kitchen trash, I went through the contents of a full garbage can piece by piece, looking for it. (Read more) Healed Foot and Ankle
My son and I were having lunch at the Whataburger at Highway 6 and Highway 84 in Waco. While we were eating, a big, stocky west Texas rancher hobbled into the restaurant. I say "hobbled" because he had a large brace on his lower leg and ankle. After he sat down, I went over and asked him how he'd gotten hurt. (Read more)
Healed Neck at the Sports Store
One Friday this past July, I went to a local sporting goods store to get a basketball net for my son. When I entered the store, I walked past a store employee having a rather intense conversation on his cell phone with what seemed to be a nurse or appointment clerk at a doctor's office. I didn't have to eavesdrop to take note of what the young man was loudly talking about - he was suffering terrible pain in his neck and upper back, and he wanted to be seen by his doctor as soon as possible. Healed of Chronic Cough
Even though I had a nasty respiratory infection, I had to make a trip to an auto parts store to order a case of a certain kind of transmission fluid that my van had to have. The man behind the counter was coughing constantly - about like I was. Turns out he had been struggling with his cough for six months. But because I was coughing too, I thought, "You're coughing yourself! You have no business praying for him." "You're sick – you aren't qualified today." "How can you give away what you don't have?" - thoughts like that. So I didn't offer to pray for him. (Read more)
A lady I work with was suffering from a lot of pain in her knee when we had our office staff Christmas lunch. She had already had one knee replacement done last summer, and her other knee was hurting so much that surgery had been rescheduled 12/30 instead of next summer.
I kept thinking about her all afternoon and knew she would have a hard time getting back to her car to go home. So I asked the graduate student down the hall and another secretary upstairs to go with me and pray for her. She welcomed our prayers. We laid hands on her and prayed for her, and she thanked us. But that wasn't all. I told her to get up and try to walk. She did - and had no pain! She was very grateful and happy, and so were the three of us. To God be the glory! The excruciating pain she had been suffering in her knee did not return in the next two weeks prior to replacement surgery. She spent the holidays praising the Lord that she was pain free! -Melinda C. "I See God"
The other night, my daughter couldn't sleep because she had a song running through her head. Even though it was a Christian song, the fact that she couldn't "turn it off" was tormenting her. She got up and asked me to pray for her.
As I prayed for the peace of the Lord to come, I felt prompted to ask her, "What do you see right now?" "I see God... He looks like a friendly old man with white hair, a white beard, and a white robe, and He's lying down in heaven. And I'm sleeping in His lap." That was such a sweet picture for her, I sent her to bed. She went to sleep right away. The next morning, it so happened I was reading in Daniel 7. I about dropped my Bible at verse 9: "As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool..." Wow. Lift Up Your Voice
I had been having problems with my voice for nine months or so now. Polyps developed on my vocal chords and made it impossible for me to sing or speak really clearly. There were times when I couldn't hardly speak at all. I finally had surgery on December 31.
I went five days on a "vocal fast," and have limited my speaking greatly in the days that followed. Well, last night I was at a meeting where we end our discussions by holding hands and saying the Lord's Prayer. I got to about the "which art in heaven" part and realized that I could hear my old voice again. Wow, what an experience to hear it with such clarity! God let me hear myself for the first time while I was thanking him. Soon, maybe I can sing again. -Mary D.
Instant Message Healings
I've been seeking the Lord for more of Him and have also been asking Him to put people in my life who needed healing and were willing to accept it. One night recently, I had three opportunities to pray for people to be healed, all of them over Instant Messaging on the computer. The IM transcripts tell the stories. (Read more)
Lord, Save Him and Preserve Him
“I think we need dog food,” I said, as I did the most useful thing I could do while shopping with Sue in a Walmart – I pushed the cart. We were going down the dog food aisle when, suddenly, everything started spinning. I clung to the handles of the shopping cart, but I was losing my balance and heading for the floor. “Something is wrong!” I cried out as I was falling. The shopping cart was tipping over on its side as I went down, refusing to let go of its handle. I felt as if it were all happening in slow motion. As I lay on the floor, I could not move, everything was still spinning, but I could talk. (Read more)
Midnight Prophecy
Late one night, my family and I were headed home from Fort Worth. About midnight, we pulled off the interstate and into the Exxon station in Itasca. My son and I went in. Ours was the only car at the convenience store, and my son and I and the lone store clerk were the only ones in the store. While my son was in the rest room, I paid for coffee and a candy bar, then got to talking with the clerk.
As we spoke, the clerk told me she was attending a nearby community college and planned to finish there and then go to UT for her bachelors and then a masters in sports therapy. Suddenly in that moment, it seemed that the Lord really wanted to encourage her. I got a wave of great news for her and just went with it. (Read more) Sprained Arm Healed
My daughter and son and I went to a local car dealer today to look at some used cars. We pulled into their lot, parked, and got out. A salesman named Brad hiked over to where we were to introduce himself. Before Brad could offer to help us, I offered to help him - as he strode up, I saw that he was awkwardly holding his left arm out as if it was hurting him. I was called to fast and pray recently, and was very reluctant on several counts. I was concerned that I could endure the full period of the fast. The nature of the fast conflicted with my line of work as a chef. I was also concerned that I was not entering the fast with a clear purpose or reason to fast.
As I fasted and prayed, I was very amazed to discover several things. The Lord gave me a supernatural peace and contentment to refrain from eating the foods I was fasting from. Once I slipped by mindlessly tasting a restricted food while cooking at work, and encountered a genuine issue of working well as a chef and honoring God’s fast. At that point I discovered His creativity and encouragement when He suggested that I taste and spit when I cooked restricted foods.
The Lord Heals!
For several weeks during the summer, I was having trouble with irregular heartbeats. At times, they were so pronounced that they would keep me awake at night. Because my doctor caught the irregular rhythms on an EKG, he made arrangements for further testing. On September 3, I had an echo-cardiogram and was hooked up to a halter monitor for 24 hours. On the day of the tests, I didn’t feel any irregular rhythms. Sure enough, all of the tests came back fine. Two weeks have passed, and I have not had any problems.
The only explanation is that the Lord healed me! Praise the Lord for His goodness and for faith-filled family and friends. -Diane R.
