Helping People Follow Jesus

Youth Staff

Ronny Higgins

Youth Pastor

Ronny has been in student ministry since 1995. He came to Highland in 2005 after serving on the mission field working with students in Namibia (a country in Southern Africa). He is a graduate of Baylor University and has a Masters of Divinityfrom Truett Seminary. Ronny and his wife, Kylie, have two incredible children (Hudson and Avery) and one on the way (Eli, expected August 31). He loves playing most sports (especially soccer and football), hunting (though he's self-admittedly not a very good shot), hiking, camping, skiing (water and snow)... pretty much, he just likes being outdoors. To be honest, Ronny loves the Cowboys and on most Sunday afternoons during the Fall, you will find him sitting in front of his TV, jersey on, cheering on the 'Boys!

David Hanson

Associate Youth Pastor

David is a graduate of Texas Tech University and is working on his Masters of Divinity from Truett Seminary. He and his wife Ashley moved to Waco in 2007 and quickly became a part of the Highland family. David served as a volunteer in the Student Ministry for a little over a year before joining our staff in the summer of 2009. The Hansons have a Westie named Buddy (that's a dog, if you didn't know)...they are expecting their first child in 2012 (do the math, haha!). David spends too much time watching college football and hates how the Red Raiders play with his emotions. David feels he has a healthy addiction to coffee which helps him hang out with students and accomplish his studies. In his down time David loves to hang out with Ashley and feels he can beat just about anyone in Scattergories.

Drew Humphrey

Youth Intern

Drew is a student at Baylor University who comes to us from Allen, TX. We will give you more information about him after we have had proper time to interrogate him. As for now, just know that Drew loves playing the guitar and his Xbox...not necessarily in that order. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that he dropped weight lifting this year at Baylor out of fear.

Lauren Allen

Youth and College Assistant

Lauren is a graduate of The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.  She graduated with an Art degree in 2010.  Lauren grew up in Schertz but just moved to Waco and is excited about being involved at Highland.  She likes painting and photography.  Her most hated food is mashed potatoes and her favorite thing ever is lemon bars.

Youth Staff

We also have a volunteer youth staff that is incredibly awesome! These adults and college students enable the HSM to function, and we are very thankful that God continues to bring great people our way who invest in the lives of teenagers here at Highland. If you are interested in being a part of our Youth Staff, email Ronny for more information.
